People often ask us what a day at our Surf & Yoga retreat actually feels like, and the truth is: no two days are ever the same. We live with the waves, we follow the energy, and most of the time the group starts to feel like family after the very first day. Still, there is a rhythm, the gentle, slow-life Moroccan kind, where time stretches out, meals taste better, you feel the sun rising and setting, the ocean becomes your clock, and laughter fills the space between activities. So here’s a little glimpse into a day with us, just a glimpse, because every retreat is shaped around you, every day is special, filled with its own activities, its own magic, and its own little surprises.

Sunrise, silence & bird sounds
The house wakes up slowly. Before anyone opens their eyes, Aisha and Roos are already in the kitchen, slicing oranges, stirring honey and making sure everyone has a warm cup of coffee. The sun hasn’t climbed over the mountains yet, but you can smell the coffee, hear the birds and watch the ocean rolling in. There’s no rush and no pressure to “do”, just a soft invitation to start waking up, getting ready for another day of surfing, easing into yoga and soaking up the full Moroccan vibe & taste.
Breakfast made with love
When you walk out onto the terrace, breakfast is waiting for you: fresh homemade bread, Aisha’s pancakes, eggs, fruit, honey, and that famous Moroccan peanut butter that somehow disappears faster every morning. People smile without speaking yet: some have already journaled, some slept in, and some just took a morning dip in the pool before joining the table. It’s slow, intimate, real a table full of friends enjoying the best homemade food!

Surf time, Mehdi’s territory
After breakfast, the energy shifts. Everyone gets ready for a beautiful day in the ocean and on the beach. Boards come out, wetsuits appear, and Mehdi begins checking the waves. When you’re with a 3-time Moroccan surf champion, surfing becomes more than just riding waves. You learn why a wave breaks, how the sandbanks shift, which spots are gentle, and which will challenge you. Mehdi picks the perfect spot, you simply follow. Some guests paddle out confidently, others stand up for the very first time, and every effort is celebrated with cheers and excitement!
Slow afternoons, Moroccan style
After surf, everything slows down. Salt rinsed off, wetsuits hung to dry, people drift between the house, the beach, and Taghazout, maybe a coffee, a little shop, or just toes in the sand. Some stretch on the rooftop, some dip in the pool, some laugh with Aisha in her wild hand gestures and broken English. Lunch is simple and local, warm bread, fresh vegetables, dips, salads. No one checks the time. You watch the sky, feel your body, and connect with the ocean, the sun, and the people around you.

Golden hour turns everything soft
By late afternoon, everyone just hangs out, drawn together by the light. Golden hour hits the ocean, and somehow we all end up on the rooftop. Sometimes we watch the sunset from Taghazout skatepark, sometimes from the rooftop, sometimes from the beach, a drink in hand, or just letting the sky turn gold. This is when the best chats happen, stories come out, dreams get shared. It always flows like this, easy and natural. Morocco has a way of loosening people.
Dinner: Aisha’s love language
When the sun sets, dinner arrives, locally made, cooked with love, recipes from Mehdi’s great granda, full of flavour and heart homemade by Aisha. Tagines, couscous, slow-cooked vegetables, fresh bread, so good plates get licked clean after a full day of surfing, yoga, and exploring. Afterwards, tea and cookies appear, cups in hand, laughter spilling, stories shared, and easy chats stretching into the evening as everyone winds down together.

Nights made of connection
Some nights end on the rooftop under a silver moon, some with music, some with card games. Most end with warmth, feet tucked under blankets, laughter and conversations that drift into the night without trying. No one’s performing, no one’s forcing anything. Just sandy hair, tired muscles, full hearts, and people being human.

Sleep like you earned it
When people finally drift off, the ocean is still rolling outside. You sleep hard, the kind of sleep that only comes after sun, salt water, laughter, and being looked after. Tomorrow it all starts again: different waves, different stories, same feeling. This is what a day with us is made of, Moroccan simplicity, warm hospitality, surf energy, and real human connection. A life where you don’t have to be anyone, you just get to be. You’re welcome here anytime. 🌸
Kisses,
Mehdi & Roos 🌼
