The best places to eat and get coffee in Costa da Caparica

After a day of surfing, you need two things: good food and a place with an ocean view to enjoy it. Costa da Caparica has plenty of both, from simple marisqueiras serving fresh fish and seafood to cosy coffee spots where you can recharge between surf sessions. These are the places I find myself recommending most often.

1. Sotavento

A classic marisqueira with one of the best reputations along the coast. Come here for super fresh seafood and fish, simply prepared and served with a view of the ocean. No fuss, just really good food. Best for: Fresh fish and seafood lovers. Tip: Go with a group so you can order a few different dishes to share.

2. Pluto

Not in the mood for fish? This is your place. Pluto is an Italian restaurant, perfect for a good pizza or pasta after a day at the beach.

Best for: A proper Italian meal after a day of surfing. Tip: Perfect for a group dinner.

3. Surfin

A lovely spot for lunch and coffee, and just right for a break between two surf sessions. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is also one of my favourite places for an açaí bowl.

Best for: A light lunch, coffee or açaí bowl between surf sessions. Tip: A great stop when you have a full day of surf lessons.

4. Hani

A cosy coffee spot that’s perfect for breakfast or a coffee before heading into the water.

Best for: Morning coffee or a relaxed breakfast. Tip: A lovely place to start your day before surfing.

5. Oakberry Açaí

Located close to Praia do CDS, this is the place to go if you’re craving an açaí bowl. Fresh açaí, unlimited toppings and quick, friendly service. Best for: A fresh and healthy bowl before or after surfing. Tip: Go for the classic bowl with granola and fresh fruit on top.

6. Dr. Bernard

A beach restaurant, surf centre and wellness spot all in one, right on Praia do CDS. Alongside good food with an ocean view, you can also book yoga or surf lessons here, or simply grab a drink and watch the sunset. Best for: A long lunch or drinks with an ocean view, combined with a little wellness. Tip: Book ahead if you want a spot on the balcony, it has the best view.
