At every Surf & Yoga Retreat, we sit down with the guests who feel called to share and ask them what this week has brought into their lives. We love sharing these real stories, because they are what truly make our community real. Not just reviews or aesthetic social media moments, but honest stories from real experiences, lived and felt. And so, here is the story of the beautiful Maja 💛✨

What was the moment this week when you felt this Surf & Yoga Retreat was exactly what you needed?
It actually started the moment I stepped out of the airport and felt the warm sun, that was moment one. Then, arriving at the house and getting the tour, Kristina and I looked at each other and had moment two. And it just kept going like that: a whole week full of happy moments. After the first yoga class, I felt so recharged and deeply relaxed, completely zen. That’s when I really started crying. I truly needed this week!!!
How did you experience the combination of surfing and yoga during the retreat? What did it do for your body and energy?
It was the perfect combination. I’ve honestly never experienced yoga as relaxing as I did here (thaaanks Lieke!!). I’m not really a yoga person, but I could definitely become one in this setting. Physically and mentally it brought me so much calm, it felt like a true recharge moment. Ready to catch the waves for the rest of the day!

What made Taghazout and Morocco such a wonderful place for you to experience this retreat?
The fact that the weather is just amazing in November and December. I also really love Taghazout, not too big, not too small. Great little places to eat, and the people are incredibly friendly.
How did you experience the guidance of Mehdi and Roos, both in surfing and beyond?
I’m incredibly grateful for the help from Mehdi and Roos when we went to Imsouane by taxi. Everything was so well taken care of, and when we arrived it was so beautiful that I started crying again, happy tears. Looking back, it turned out to be the most special day of the week, I’m so grateful I got to experience it. On Imsouane day two, the waves were perfectly small and playful, and cross-stepping suddenly felt easy, pure happiness (again!!).
Also outside of surfing, the guidance was just as amazing. The program was so thoughtfully put together, with a beautiful variety of activities. Because of that, we were able to truly see and experience the town and its surroundings, which I absolutely loved. Everything flowed so naturally, and it made the week feel rich, full, and deeply special. You did an incredible job, you can truly be proud of this.

And how was it to surf with a local and enjoy the food cooked by Mehdi’s mother?Surfing with a local always feels really good, it gives such a sense of security. You’re treated differently than when you arrive somewhere on your own. And the food… well, what can I say. I had to detox once I got home. It was pure joy (thanks Aisha!!)!
With what feeling do you go home after this week?
Sad that I have to leave. And fulfilled because I did this. I’m also leaving with the knowledge that I’ll be back.
And what would you say to someone who is hesitating about booking this retreat?
Just do it! You won’t regret this.
